Sapphire Beach Garden
Situated in a stunning beach front location the design of this garden posed numerous challenges to create the lush garden the clients were after.
Not only exposed to wind and salt spray but the garden spreads over four blocks that had all been filled and compacted to allow for building houses, with pure sand at the lower part facing the beach.
In keeping with the scale of the house, the patio and pool areas had to be of considerable size.
The material selection for the 20m pool and the large number of hard surfaces was an important part of the design. Variety and texture were necessary to break up the different zones. We chose travertine for the patios, a highly textured black terracotta tile for the fireplace and side garden area, a limestone for the pool interior and coping and beautiful hardwood timber for the two decks.
Sir Grange turf has been used for the expansive lawns.
The plant selection consists mainly of coastal varieties and tough succulents. Mature Pandanus, Banksias and Frangipani were installed as well as feature plants such as Nolina, Zamia, Dragon Trees and Aloes.
A great furniture selection and the thoughtful choice and placement of pots add to the unique character of this garden.
